Our outreach!
Amazing to see how Jamaicans and friends of Jamaica are stepping up to help! 💚💛🖤

Streets of Jamaica is a community rooted platform documenting real life across the island while actively supporting the people who live here. Following Hurricane Melissa, our work expanded from storytelling into direct, on the ground action.

In the immediate aftermath of the hurricane, we focused on emergency relief in some of the hardest hit areas. Many communities were completely cut off, with roads impassable and access to hospitals and clinics disrupted for weeks. To reach the most vulnerable, we accessed remote areas using off road vehicles and motorbikes, bringing help directly to people who otherwise had no way to reach medical care.

We provided first aid, basic medical support, and emergency assistance while delivering food, water, hygiene supplies, and essential materials. We supported shelters and organised pop up mobile clinics, working closely with nurses, doctors, and community leaders to respond to urgent needs as they changed day by day.
A key part of our work was field assessment. We worked closely with Medic Corps, visiting affected areas and shelters to assess conditions on the ground so they could deploy direct, targeted, and appropriate medical support where it was needed most. Being present in the field allowed us to share accurate, real time information and help larger organisations respond more effectively.

As emergency response slows, we are now moving into the next phase of our work: rebuilding livelihoods.
Streets of Jamaica is facilitating micro grants to help individuals and small businesses that were severely impacted by the hurricane get back to work. These grants focus on practical needs such as tools, materials, equipment, transportation, and other essentials that allow people to restart income and regain stability.

Alongside this, we continue to support communities through pop up mobile clinics when needed and by amplifying local businesses through storytelling, photography, video, and digital media. Rebuilding is not only about infrastructure, but about restoring dignity, opportunity, and long term resilience.
Our work is grounded in transparency, community trust, and long term impact. We remain close to the communities we serve, listen first, and adapt as needs evolve.

This work continues through collaboration, funding, and partnerships. If you want to support or work with Streets of Jamaica, whether through grants, collaboration, or creative work, we welcome you to be part of the journey.

💚 Help us help them. We’re all in this together.
